Harmful consequences of laxative abuse

Harmful consequences of laxative abuse

In this Article, I will discuss the most common consequences of Laxative abuse.

Mineral and electrolyte imbalances: phosphorus, magnesium, potassium, and sodium are Electrolytes and minerals that are present in specific amounts and are necessary for the proper functioning of the body's nerves and muscles, especially the heart and colon. Changes to this balance can result in the improper functioning of vital organs.

Severe dehydration may cause kidney damage, feelings of weakness, blurred vision, and fainting; resulting in a person requiring medical treatment and the most extreme case Death.

Dependency on Laxatives: can result in the body requiring the use of laxatives in order to produce bowel movements.

Damage to Internal organs can include stretched or “lazy” colon, infection of the colon, Irritable Bowel Syndrome and possibly liver damage. The risk of laxative abuse can also contribute to a increased chance of colon cancer.

As you can see the results of laxative abuse can vary from  mild issues to possibly death, if you are going to partake in the use of laxatives, be responsible and ensure you drink plenty of water. If you are experiencing any of these side effects while using laxatives, quit taking them right away and contact a doctor. A few pounds is not worth causing lifelong or fatal results.

Will laxatives help you lose weight ?

Will laxatives help you lose weight?

Will laxatives help you lose weight

This is a fairly common question for people trying to quickly lose a few excess pounds before the 10 year high school reunion, meeting that special him or her you met online for the first real date, or getting ready for that overdue family vacation at the beach or Disneyland.

The answer to this question is both Yes and No.

Yes - You will lose weight but it will consist mostly of "Water Weight" by forcing your body to excrete the excess water it is maintaining and to assist in the excretion of human waste aka Poop

No - The reason laxatives will not help you lose weight is that it is only a temporary fix; laxatives do nothing to contribute to weight loss or muscle gain. Laxatives do not contain any kind of thermogenic compound to increase your body temperature to assist in burning calories.

So will Laxatives help you lose weight? In my opinion if you are just trying to squeeze in those tight years or that old suit or dress you need to wear for a friend's wedding go for it, but do it safely by ensuring responsible water intake. If you are trying to drop a lot of weight the best bet is to do it properly over a extended period of time by eating right and exercising regularly.

Does fiber help you poop ?

Does Fiber Help You Poop?

Does fiber help you poop ?

The title of this article may sound funny, but the importance of fiber in a diet can not be disputed.

Fiber or Fibre is the indigestible portion of plant food with two main components.

-Soluble Fiber

-Insoluble Fiber

Soluble Fiber causes the emptying of your stomach to slow down and makes the person feels full, in return assisting in weight control. Due to the stomach emptying slower blood sugar levels are maintained resulting in insulin sensitivity, helping to control diabetes.

Food Sources of Soluble Fiber

Oatmeal, oat cereal, lentils, apples, oranges, pears, oat bran, strawberries, nuts, flaxseeds, beans, dried peas, blueberries, psyllium, cucumbers, celery, and carrots.

Insoluble Fiber increase fecal bulk and expedite the excretion of food through the digestive tract.

Food Sources of Insoluble Fiber

whole wheat, whole grains, wheat bran, corn bran, seeds, nuts, barley, couscous, brown rice, bulgur, zucchini, celery, broccoli, cabbage, onions, tomatoes, carrots, cucumbers, green beans, dark leafy vegetables, raisins, grapes, fruit, and root vegetable skins.

Recommended daily intake of Fiber: The 2005 Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommend a person consume 14 grams of fiber per 1000 calories consumed.

Benefits of a high fiber diet:

A High Fiber diet can greatly aid in moderate weight loss, reduce the risk of colon cancer, heart disease, constipation and the production of bad cholesterol.

Disadvantages of a high fiber diet:

A high fiber diet may result in increased flatulence, bloating, and constipation if not enough water is consumed.

In conclusion, the answer to this topic’s question Does fibre make you poop? The answer is yes. Additionally I have also included some health benefits of consuming Fiber or Fibre. I hope you have enjoyed this article.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Taylor.

Do laxatives help you lose weight

Do Laxatives Help You Lose Weight ?

If you need to temporarly lose weight, laxatives can be a great alternative, it's a  relatively inexpensive method and it works when used over a short period.

This  diet method is fairly common and often used by Athletes and professions that require people to meet a certain weight or body fat percentage, such as Military Personnel.

I have used this method several times, starting approximately a week before taking The Army Physical Fitness Test, to assist in removing excess water weight and waste in my body.

There are many skeptics that question will laxatives help you lose weight

The answer is in the long term, this diet is not healthy and can cause damage to your kidneys

If you are going for a short term weight loss program to drop a few pounds quickly and are smart about it
this program will work.

The Most Important aspect is to eat and drink water.

Below is a sample plan to succussfully lose weight.

Wake up and take a laxative, for additional benefit workout .

Eat Breakfast within a hour.

Take another laxative with lunch.

Take a laxative with dinner.

Every hour drink at least 2 glasses of water to ensure hydration, because the bowel movements may be loose and cause you to lose body hydration.

So if you decide that  this is the way that you want to take to lose weight then be sure that you have devised a plan, and are near a bathroom because this will make you not only lose weight but you will use the restroom too.

In order to take laxatives in a healthy way it is important that they are taken in conjunction with supplements that restore important anti-oxidants to the body.

Also be smart about choosing what laxatives help you lose weight
